AUO Corporation ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced that the Company is listed among the Top 100 Green Companies in China and is as well the only Taiwanese TFT-LCD manufacturer named. With the theme being “Green Evolution: Governments and Enterprises” this year, the Annual Summit of China Green Companies 2010 announced the Top 100 Green Companies in China for the very first time. AUO was bestowed the honor for its green strengths in R&D, dedication to “AUO Green Solutions” and persistence in green practices in all respects and shown by every employee.

The Annual Summit of China Green Companies was founded by China Entrepreneur Club on April 22, 2008 (Earth Day). It is the first international cross-industry summit that focuses on sustainable economic development. This year the summit took place in Chengdu, China from April 22-23. The event was attended by as many as 1,000 insightful and innovative business leaders, political dignitaries, academic authorities, NGO representatives and mainstream journalists from worldwide. In addition, the judging committee was formed by Mr. Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), along with 24 other international authoritative experts. The selection was based on a collected list of 1,500 model companies. Through the confirmation of the nominees, Internet voting by the public and appraisal by the judging committee, the top 100 companies emerged, whose exceptional performances included competitiveness in positive and sustainable operations, driving force toward a low-carbon Chinese economy and leadership in the social ecological development.

“It is our great privilege and honor to be named the Top 100 Green Companies in China, especially on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day,” said Dr. L.J. Chen, President and CEO of AUO. “As a global leader of TFT-LCD, AUO has always been dedicated to the practice of Green Solutions and the development of a low-carbon economy. What is more, in the beginning of this year, the Company made a declaration of carbon footprint reduction, aiming at a 30% reduction from the carbon footprint level in 2009 by 2012,” he added.

AUO has been a keen advocator of corporate green practices for a sustainable society, and in the meantime a company that ensures maximum benefits for its clients and consumers. To reduce negative environmental impact, AUO developed a 32" LCD TV certified by SGS as the first LCD TV set worldwide to have gained Carbon Footprint Verification. The acknowledgement was a milestone to the carbon footprint management for the consumer electronics products. The successful case also contributed to incorporating the Taiwanese experience of the supply chain carbon management into the formulation of international standards. In addition to enhancing green strengths in R&D, AUO has also established a knowledge platform intended for the exchange of green know-how's and experiences among the supply chain peers. It is hoped that the collective efforts will bring about even better green performances for AUO and its partners.
